ukChoose a memorable name and register it
Start with a word people can remember and type. You are registering a name beneath uk.app, with DNS management included; website hosting and mailboxes are separate services.
1. Make a shortlist
Try your project name, a relevant English word or a short combination. Say each option aloud and check that someone can spell it without an explanation. Check for brand conflicts and avoid names that could imply you represent another organisation.
2. Check availability and the full annual price
Use the name search. The result shows the current availability and price. Standard names and premium names have different annual prices; protected names cannot be purchased. An example in our documentation is not a promise that the name is available.
3. Check your intended use
Before paying, confirm that your hosting or mail provider accepts the full hostname as a custom domain. See website hosting or home servers. Names under .app need valid HTTPS certificates for browser access. Independent DNS-zone acceptance at other providers is not guaranteed.
4. Register and complete payment
Choose an available name and create an account or sign in. Your selected name should appear in the account with its price and a continuation button. Complete any email verification, review the annual renewal price, then continue to payment. Keeping a selection does not reserve the name or charge you; availability is checked again when you continue.
5. Connect and check
After payment confirmation, open My names, select the name and follow a setup guide. A parking page can appear until you configure your destination. Use the domain health check and open your actual website or client to confirm it works.
If something is missing
If the selection is absent, search again while signed in. If a payment completed but the name is not active, check Billing and contact support with the payment reference before paying again. Never include a card number, password or API token.
